Now with the news, site news that is. There isn't much, actually. What I have for today is something I've been meaning to update with for the past few days, but I just never got around to doing it. As of right now, we have our first of many pages for the Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver section of the site. This page features pre-release screenshots of HGSS. Not much but it is a start. Also, the Water-type page for the Elemental Types area of the Universal section has been revised. I wanted to have more content for today. However, my desktop keyboard broke and I don't have the funds to replace it at the moment. I just prefer to use a desktop keyboard when writing longer articles; it seems to go by faster. That, and I've been engulfed in Perfect Dark again. Almost ten years later and the fun factor is still there. I want to start a mini-site for PD, but with these connection problems and with the release of HGSS on the horizon, I don't think it will be a good idea. Hopefully tomorrow I will find the motivation to continue revising our type pages
There were a few affiliates on our list that did not have a linking button, or had one that I could not find, or they did not link back to us for whatever reason. These sites are, in order of which they were listed on our list, Eevee's Headquarters, Pokemon Battle Dome, Pokemon Valley, Pokeshore, and Shadowpokes. If you have such a button, or removed us accidently, please let me know as soon as possible. If you hadn't noticed, I've added several videos to several pages of the site. These videos are instructional and compliment the pages on which they are displayed. For example, check out the page on getting Lugia in the Gold and Silver section. There's a video there showing the player how to get to Lugia in said games. I plan on adding videos like this where applicable. I've added several CoroCoro scans to the Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver pages, as well as a bit more info. Hopefully, I will be able to get a copy of either game as quickly as I did Platinum; I'm eager to start working on our HGSS section.
Of course, until that date arrives, I will be doing several things around the site. They are, in particular order, listed below. If things go well, each item can be completed before HGSS's release. In addition, we've gained one new affiliate. Be sure to check out Pika's Club! The first image revealed shows updated artwork for Professor Elm, the games' rival, and the female Team Rocket Grunt. In addition, we can see two in-game images; one shows the player in Professor Elm's lab, which looks a bit different than it did in GS. We can also see a battle between the player and the rival, showing newer sprites. This scan shows us three images of three Pokemon: the Weather Trio from Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. It appears that Kyogre will be exclusive to HeartGold, and Groudon will be exclusive to SoulSilver. It appears that these two are supposed to have an advantage of some sort over the games' mascot (type for Kyogre, moveset for Groudon). Various sources report that these two can only be caught after beating the Elite Four. How far after beating them is unknown; either way, it gives hints as to how soon we can obtain the National Dex. Apparently, when either is caught, Rayquaza can be unlocked and captured. And this scan has an image of Cynthia on it. Along with another image (who I could not find a copy of), this suggests that Cynthia and Arceus will be featured in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Apparently, when the promotional movie Arceus is traded over, it will unlock an event involving these two. Their roles are unknown, as is the significance of said roles. Rumor has it that it will allow a level 1 Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina to be captured. That's all for today, unless more information surfaces, in which I will update accordingly. Images courtesy of Bulbapedia. Also, I've been revamping the Elemental type pages. I finished Water last night and currently working on Dragon. I'll update these two later today, as it seems I might be able to connect to the server longer than expected!
I've worked on one new page for the Gold and Silver section of the site. This page, called team building, is to help players locate and obtain Johto Pokemon to use for building a team that can stand up to the gym leaders and the Elite Four of the Johto region. Pages like this may come for other games in the series, but who knows at this point. I may finish up the Pokemon Gold and Silver walkthru since I'm at that point in my current Silver game. I don't have anything for the Kanto saga, so it seems like a good time for it. Right now, the Platinum walkthru is being discontinued. My laptop is in the shop and that's where the current pages for the walkthru are stored. Also, for the time being, the POX InvisionFree forums have returned so that you have a place to discuss Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, as well as other things. They might not last long so you better hurry.
Rather, it is because I am unable to establish a stable, working connection to the server from my home network; for some reason, my router is blocking the connection to the server. As of this moment, I have yet to pinpoint the exact cause. There are other network connections available to me to use for updating, but they are unreliable, unsafe and have unstable connection speeds; there is only one reliable and safe alternative connection, but as to how often I can use it is unknown. Affiliates, please do not remove us from your links. I will try to update when possible, but this is just to let you know that the possibility of an update is slim at this point.
If you come across any broken images or URLs while browsing the site, please send me an e-mail with a link to the URL/broken image so I may fix it. Please do not e-mail me regarding anything related to the Pocket Monster pages, as I am aware there are problems with those pages. I haven't done much with POX because I have been largely unable to access the server from my home network, so I must connect elsewhere. I will start writing more content and fixing things when my home connection is working properly again.
Not sure when the next part to the Platinum walkthru will come. It probably won't come for awhile because I want to focus on other parts of the site at the moment.
I've started the other part of the Platinum walkthru and began work on a Poison type page, but that's about it as of right now. They're both half finished and when I get time they will be completed, which might be this week. Today is my last day and summer break begins, so you can expect to see a plethora of new content then.
Within the coming hours they will be gone and will not be coming back.
It appears that during this twenty-four hour period, my host was running maintenance on the server on which POX is stored, or something else probably happened and knocked it offline. I have no idea what they did, so that's left up on the air. In other news, I've finally put some more work into the types pages for the universal section. The Ghost type page has been updated to how I am going to be doing the pages from now on; rather than just recommend some Pokemon to you, I am going to list in about a paragraph why I am recommending that Pokemon, as well as a nice moveset to shoot for. Again, it's strictly written for playing the game, not competitively fighting (although in some cases it could work). With that said, there are two new pages for that section. These are the Rock type page and the Electric type page. These pages also follow the format explained above. All that is left to finish is the Flying, Poison and Ground type in this format, then I'll start on the other pages. Also, I am still in the process of switching over the game index pages to a newer format. Currently, only the indexes for Platinum, DP and GS are like this. Hopefully I can get to the rest soon. In addition, expect part seven of the Platinum walkthru soon.
As of right now, part six of the Platinum walkthru is completed. This details up to Byron's gym battle. Hopefully in the next week part seven, which would deal with Team Galatic's mayhem and/or Candice's Gym Battle, will be written. In other news, POX currently set our highest daily hit total ever. Yesterday, we garnered a total of 460 hits. This is the most we've ever recorded in our three years on the web. This might actually be higher, but for a long time, Shinystat stopped counting after 331 hits per day. In other news, I've reformatted most of the index pages for each game series. I plan to reformat the others soon, but I am not sure when I can do this, so check back soon.
As you can probably tell, I've put up a new layout design. I got inspiration from another site for the color scheme of this layout. For a long time I was wondering of how to post news of the Pokemon world without having something become cluttered. It hit me this afternoon to make a small section above the main content area to display two or three tidbits of new information relating the Pokemon games. To make it look a bit nicer, I decided to include a mini site update feed as well. This is located right above this post. Secondly, the navigation menu has gone straight to the right side. It's something I haven't done in a layout, in, well, ever, so I thought it would be a nice change. That little blue bar on the navigation menu will disappear soon. The font style has changed, as did a few other CSS/html related things. Iam thinking of doing something with the menu pages for each video game giving that time permits.
Platinum related names are surfacing. Serebii.net says that two formes of Rotom will be given new names. Cut Forme Rotom will be called Mow Forme Rotom, and ] Spin Forme Rotom is now Fan Forme Rotom. The other Rotom formes retain the same names. In addition, Giratina's exclusive item the Platinum Orb will now be called the Griseous Orb. Also, the Battle Frontier area "Battle Stage" will now be called Battle Stage. Similarly, the Battle Roulette is now the Battle Arcade. The Fronter Brains Nejiki, Kate, Kokuran and Cattleya will now be called Thorton, Argenta, Darach and Caitlin respectively. Dahlia still remains her Japanese yet English sounding name, which is odd considering Kate and Melissa (Fantina) were English names yet were changed for the US release. Lastly, the Match Place/Top Trainer Cafe is now called the Battleground. That's all for today. More to come later. |
